Here are three things that lead to a GREAT performance by the band:
- Protection from the elements (Hot, Cold, Rain, Wind, Locusts)
- A flat patch of ground for the drummer
- Access to normal power where we will not trip people (we come with LONG extension cords).
SETUP
- We usually come to set up about 1 1/2 hours before a gig.
- The band needs about a 10 x 10 footprint to set up.... 12 x 16 is an ideal size if your event calls for a rented stage.
- The band's power requirement is one power outlet - just standard household current (120 volts rated at 15 amps) is needed.
- If possible, we suggest that the band not be too near your guests when they are eating so it is easier for them to talk.
- The band should not be placed near a pool if children or adults are swimming during the performance... The result could be shocking :-)
- SHADE IN THE SUMMER - We wilt with too much heat.
- HEAT IN COLD WEATHER - 60 degrees or below and the band needs heaters: 2 stand-up, propane heaters is ideal.
- RAIN AND WIND - The band needs to play in a tent if there is a chance of rain.
- INDOOR PERFORMANCES - if there is limited space inside a house or if just background music is needed, the band can play "unplugged" if arrangements are made in advance.
PERFORMANCE INFORMATION
- The band typically plays between 2-3 hours, which includes a break. An example would be: If we start at 6:30 pm we try to finish before 10 pm to keep peace in your neighborhood.
- We play 2 sets of 12-15 songs each set, but we can play 3 sets if requested in advance.
- Although we have about 100 songs in our playbook, we usually to stick to our most current playlist.
- Typically, the first set is background music.
- After dinner, we do our best to get people up and dancing.
- Between sets we have an iPod playing music... you are welcome to plug in yours!
MISC
- Please use our equipment as a PA system to make announcements.
- We love having people sing with us. Please feel free join us onstage with voice or instruments.
- If you request a song during a set we will try to fake it... if we know it... but no promises.
- We will use Google Earth to view your backyard.
We try to be flexible so share your thoughts and we will do our best to accommodate you.
TIPPING THE BAND
The Misplaced Priorities' mission is to raise money for charities. We are musical enthusiasts who perform for love, not money. However, there are costs to maintain our band such as equipment repair and supplies. We gratefully accept tips from our hosts to help subsidize these costs. The amount is completely up to the host's discretion.
LGL servers appreciate tips as well
Thank you very much for your generosity
